Artistic direction SÃO CASTRO
The Collective Body Project – a participatory artistic initiative – returns for its second edition, featuring a dance creation directed by São Castro. The project invites people with or without experience in dance or other artistic fields to take part in a collective creative process developed through the body, movement, and a relationship with the local territory.
Following its first edition in 2025, in which participants worked closely with the choreographer and used their lived experience of the city of Viseu as a starting point to create a plural narrative shaped by streets, people, scents, music, encounters, and memories, the project now proposes a dedicated period of listening, collaboration, and collective experimentation. It values the diversity of backgrounds and perspectives as an active and essential part of the creative process.
This edition will take place between June and December in Viseu, with sessions scheduled outside regular working hours, and is limited to 15 participants. Participants will be invited to explore collaborative creation practices through movement, guided by key concepts such as collaboration, coexistence, cohabitation, collective creation, and community.
The project is open to people aged 16 and over who live in Viseu and surrounding areas, with or without experience in dance or other artistic disciplines, and who are interested in taking part in a collaborative artistic process. The performance is scheduled to premiere on 5 December at Teatro Viriato.
Applications are open until 21 June through this form.
