CHOREOGRAPHIC LABs
Play False presents the Choreographic Labs program, an initiative dedicated to research and experimentation in contemporary dance. The program was born from the desire to create a meeting space for different generations of performers and creators, fostering the sharing of practices, methodologies, and ways of thinking about the body in motion.
Each laboratory is conceived as a temporary territory of creation, where process takes precedence over result, and where curiosity, risk, and commitment become fundamental driving forces. More than moments of training, the laboratories propose an immersion in artistic practice, stimulating dialogue between those who teach and those who learn, between experience and discovery, between the individual body and collective energy.
In 2025, the program welcomes choreographers of recognised international trajectory, selected for their ability to inspire through distinctive approaches and the coherence of their choreographic languages. Each edition offers participants the opportunity to enter different creative worlds, exploring new ways of relating to space, time, others, and their own bodies.
The first laboratory takes place on October 11, led by choreographer Edouard Hue, and invites students and dancers to a journey of intensity and physical freedom through improvisations, attack-and-release games, and repertoire material.
A second laboratory follows on November 29, with Antonin Comestaz, who invites participants into his universe, where movements and gestures are treated like words that, in sequence, outline characters, tell a story, or form riddles.
Each encounter will be an opportunity to experiment, question, and reinvent dance, consolidating a space of learning that is alive, dynamic, and constantly transforming.
With this program, Play False establishes a partnership with Teatro Viriato, affirming a shared commitment to artistic development, knowledge exchange, and the strengthening of the dance community, recognising the laboratory as an essential place for creation and contemporary choreographic thought.
